HBO announces the new season of the medieval fantasy series will debut at 9 P.M. on Sunday, April 1.

AceShowbiz - HBO has unveiled the return date of "Game of Thrones". Having been teased in some promo videos, the second season of the critically acclaimed series that is based on George R. R. Martin's "A Song of Ice and Fire" is now slated to premiere at 9 P.M. on Sunday, April 1.
The new chapter of the medieval fantasy series will see Stannis Baratheon, the brother of late King Robert Baratheon, trying to seize the Iron Throne from the wicked King Joffrey. Meanwhile, Robb Stark who has been named King in the North seeks revenge for his father's death.
In addition to "Game of Thrones", HBO has also announced the premiere dates for some of its new shows. Comedy show featuring Lena Dunham, "Girls", will bow on April 15, while political comedy series "Veep" that stars Julia Louis-Dreyfus will debut on April 22.
