AceShowbiz - Elizabeth Olsen is set to star opposite "Harry Potter" star Daniel Radcliffe in an upcoming thriller "Kill Your Darlings". Olsen has just landed a supporting role in the film which is based on a true event in 1944 about the murder case in Columbia University that helped spawn the Beat Generation in 1950.
According to Variety, the "Martha Marcy May Marlene" actress has been cast as a rich art student named Edie Parker. Her character is the girlfriend of Jack Huston's Jack Kerouac, one of the three key characters in the movie. Radcliffe will play Allen Ginsberg, a gay poet who develops feelings for Lucian Carr, who will be portrayed by Dane Dehaan.
"Kill Your Darlings" focuses on Ginsberg's relationship with both Carr and Kerouac. Carr is the one who introduces Ginsberg to Kerouac and fellow Beat poet William S. Burroughs. He is also the one who stabbed his lover David Kammerer to death in a drunken fight in 1944.
The movie was first announced in 2009. Before Radcliffe, Huston and Dehaan are attached, Jesse Eisenberg, Chris Evans and Ben Whishaw were originally tapped to star as Ginsberg, Kerouac and Carr respectively, but they bailed out of the project.
Production is set to kick off on March 12 at the Columbia University in New York. Penning the script is Austin Bunn along with John Krokidas, who is also set to make his directorial debut with this thriller.
As for Olsen, after her well-reviewed performance in "Martha Marcy May Marlene", the younger sister of famous twins Mary-Kate Olsen and Ashley Olsen will next be seen in some paranormal thrillers like "Red Lights" and "Silent House". She will also star in upcoming drama films, including "Liberal Arts" and "Peace, Love, and Misunderstanding".
