Johnny Depp Gives Michelle Pfeiffer a Deadly Glare in New 'Dark Shadows' Still

The brand new image from the anticipated Tim Burton supernatural film gives a look at Depp's vampire Barnabas Collins who stares deeply into Pfeiffer's Elizabeth Collins.

A courtesy of Entertainment Weekly, the fresh image gives a better look at Depp in his portrayal of Barnabas Collins. Sporting a pale face, he stands next to Pfeiffer who looks flustered.

In the movie, which is based on a 1960s' gothic soap opera, Barnabas Collins is described as an 18th century vampire who awakens to the 20th century. As her returns to his home in Collinwood Manor, the vampire finds that his once-grand estate has fallen into ruin and he must now has some run-ins with various monsters, witches, werewolves and ghosts.

Director Tim Burton, who admitted he's currently "panicking" with the editing stage of the film, shared in an interview with MTV News why he was interested in bringing the soap opera to the big screen. "It's got such a strange vibe," he explained. "And it's not something that a lot of people necessarily know."

"You're trying to do a weird soap opera. I felt really lucky, because the cast is really good," he continued on. "People like Michelle grew up watching it. Some of the cast knew about it. Some didn't, but they were all game for it, getting into the weird spirit of what 'Dark Shadows' was."

Asked if he will utilize time travel in the movie, Burton honestly said, "Not too much. A tiny bit." He went on to elaborate, "For me, that's the show kind of made me want to do homework. I was like, wait a minute! That came near the end of the trail of the series."

Scheduled to arrive in theaters across the U.S. on May 11, "Dark Shadows" will mark Burton's eighth collaboration with Depp. This supernatural film is also supported by Eva Green, Helena Bonham Carter, Jackie Earle Haley, Chloe Moretz and Jonny Lee Miller.
