AceShowbiz - Snoop Dogg finds himself in trouble with the law once again. The "Drop It Like It's Hot" hitmaker is staring down a drug charge after he got busted with a small amount of marijuana in Sierra Blanca, a small town just outside El Paso, Texas, at approximately 3 A.M. on Saturday, January 7.

A statement from the Hudspeth County, Texas, Sheriff revealed that the 40-year-old rapper was arrested during a routine inspection of his tour bus at the U.S.- Mexico border checkpoint about 85 miles southeast of El Paso. It was the same stretch of a west Texas highway where country singer Willie Nelson was busted in 2010.

"During a routine check of U.S. citizenship the inspecting Border Patrol agent detected the odor of marijuana emitting from the inside of the vehicle and requested the driver to pull into the secondary inspection lane for further inspection," the statement said. A drug-detection dog then "alerted to a trash can located at the rear of the vehicle where a red prescription bottle containing rolled marijuana cigarettes were located."

Two other containers with marijuana, weighing in all total of 0.130 pounds, were later found by the agents. The statement additionally noted that Snoop "freely admitted" the three prescription bottles filled with marijuana cigarettes belonged to him, and was thus "placed under arrest by U.S. Border Patrol agents and detained."

The "Young, Wild & Free" MC was cited for possession of drug paraphernalia, a misdemeanor typical in cases involving small amounts of marijuana. He has since been released but is given a court date of January 20. According to TMZ, the rapper has a prescription for cannabis in California, but there is a zero tolerance policy for weed in Texas.

Being arrested wasn't something new for Snoop. The rapper, whose real name is Calvin Broadus, has been busted and convicted for possession of drugs, ranging from marijuana to cocaine, numerous times in the last 10 years. He had also been arrested for weapons offenses.
