The songstress, who scores a total of seven nominations, will no longer be attending the January 11 event, tweeting, 'I want to thank u all for voting for me, fingers crossed!'

AceShowbiz - Just a few days after being confirmed to attend the upcoming 38th annual People's Choice Awards, Katy Perry announced that she has pulled out of the show. The 27-year-old Grammy-nominated musician took to Twitter to reveal the cancellation.

"Unfortunately I will not be able to attend the People's Choice Awards," the estranged wife of Russell Brand tweeted on Monday, January 9. "I want to thank u all for voting for me, fingers crossed! #KATYCATS."

The cancellation announcement was made just a day after Katy broke her silence about her divorce from Russell. "I am so grateful for all the love and support I've had from people around the world. You guys have made my heart happy again," she wrote.

She later posted, "Concerning the gossip, I want to be clear that NO ONE speaks for me. Not a blog, magazine, 'close sources' or my family." It's believed that she's not happy that her parents cracked a joke about her situation with Russell by telling people at Church on the Rise congregation that the divorce was a gift from God.

2012 PCAs is going to take place at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles, California on January 11. It's previously reported that Russell who was initially invited to the event was excluded from the guest list to avoid any awkwardness or confrontation with Katy.

The rumor, however, was denied as soon as it emerged. A source said the "Arthur" actor was indeed invited, but he himself declined it "a long time ago." "If he called today and said he wanted to go, he'd more than welcome to," the insider stated.

Katy gets seven nominations at the PCAs. She receives five nods in music, and adds another one in movie as a contender for Favorite Animated Movie Voice, thanks to her role in "The Smurfs". Her seventh nom comes from TV as she's named one of the Favorite TV Guest Star nominees, thanks to her guest stint in "How I Met Your Mother".

Though having no Katy and Russell on the guest list, the PCAs will still be a star-studded affair this year. Emma Stone, Nina Dobrev, Ashley Greene, Julianne Hough, Vanessa Hudgens, and Lea Michele are set to attend. Meanwhile, Demi Lovato and Faith Hill are going to perform.

On top of that, "The Hunger Games" trio Liam Hemsworth, Josh Hutcherson and Jennifer Lawrence are going to serve as presenters. The latest celebrity who is confirmed to make an appearance at the prize-giving event is none other than "Twilight Saga" hunk Robert Pattinson.
