AceShowbiz - Beyonce Knowles and Jay-Z are proud parents of a baby girl named Blue Ivy Carter. The Grammy-winning singer checked in to a private wing of Lenox Hill Hospital on late Friday, January 6 night under the name Ingrid Jackson and gave birth to the baby reportedly that very night.
According to NY Daily News, Beyonce and Jay-Z rented the hospital's entire fourth floor for $1.3 million and put guards everywhere. After 11 P.M., doctors and nurses were not allowed to get to the floor, prompting a doctor to complain that he had patients to see. The next day, people were seen visiting the couple and their bundle of joy, bringing along takeout and bottles of red wine.
Congratulations have been pouring in for Beyonce and Jay-Z from fellow celebrities. Using Twitter as the media, Russell Simmons wrote, "Congrats to my good friends Beyonce and Jay-Z." Rihanna then tweeted, "Welcome to the world princess Carter! Love Aunty Rih". It was Gwyneth Paltrow who confirmed the baby's name, writing, "Welcome to the world Blue! We love you already."
Security is very high at the hospital with guards seen patrolling the perimeter until Saturday night. Employees on shift were told to turn in their cellphones and security cameras have been concealed with tapes.
Representatives for Beyonce and Jay-Z are yet to release a statement about the baby's birth. Beyonce's sister Solange Knowles only tweeted, "The most beautiful girl in the world."
