Two publicists, who were due to fly in to New York, said the flight agent told them, 'Political celebrities are treated differently' in the company.

AceShowbiz - Two passengers of United Airlines were pissed after the flight company gave their seats to singer Wyclef Jean. The publicists bought the Easyway VIP service tickets from St. Maarten to New York but their boarding passes were torn at the gate as Jean and his crew were ushered in.

"We were at the gate, about to board, and then they took his group and they tore up our boarding passes. We did not receive any compensation, hotel - nothing," said one of the passengers who preferred to be anonymous. Jean, reportedly turned around and said, "What's happening, what's going on?" before he boarded. "The flight agent told us, 'Political celebrities are treated differently'."

Jean filed for candidacy in the 2010 Haitian presidential election although his bid was later rejected on residency reason. He was also a huge supporter of Barrack Obama at 2008 Presidential Campaign.

The publicists said they were offered a flight on January 7. United denied giving the favor to Jean, telling NY Post through their representative, "The customers [who were] denied boarding arrived at the gate within the final 10 minutes before departure."
