AceShowbiz - After insisting that he will not alter Bane's mumbling voice in "The Dark Knight Rises", director Christopher Nolan might have made a major correction to the antagonist's dialogue in the film's six-minute prologue. Collider reported that a new audio mix that features a clearer dialogue by the villain has been sent to selected IMAX theaters across the United States.
"A friend of mine who is an IMAX projectionist told me they received a new soundtrack for the 'Dark Knight Rises' prologue," spilled a source. "He said it's now a combo soundtrack with 'Mission: Impossible Ghost Protocol', but the cool thing about this is that they've cleaned up the dialogue."
"They've gone in and lowered the background noise of the plane and other things, thus making Bane's dialogue clearer and more understandable," continued the source. "He asked some people after they left the movie if they could understand Bane and they all said they had no issue understanding him, and were excited for the movie."
The six-minute prologue of "The Dark Knight Rises", which was attached to the IMAX release of "Mission: Impossible Ghost Protocol", focuses on an action-packed scene where Bane shows off his mightiness by hijacking a highly-secured military plane. Bane's muffled speech, however, sent many fans complaining.
The problem has forced Warners to approach Nolan to fix the film's sound mix. However, the director refused to make major change to Bane's voice, insisting that "it was OK for moviegoer not to understand what was said at times, as long as the overall idea was conveyed."
A high-level exec at Warners additionally revealed, "Chris wants the audience to catch up and participate rather than push everything at them. He doesn't dumb things down. You've got to pedal faster to keep up."
To open wide nationwide on July 20, 2012, "The Dark Knight Rises" is set eight years after the Harvey Dent case in "The Dark Knight". Terrorist leader Bane arrives in Gotham City, pushing it and its police force to their limits, as well as forcing Batman to resurface after taking the fall for Dent's crimes.
Tom Hardy tackles the part of the burly supervillain, while Christian Bale reprises his role as Bruce Wayne a.k.a Batman. Anne Hathaway, Michael Caine, Gary Oldman, Morgan Freeman, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Marion Cotillard are among the supporting cast.
