'Boardwalk Empire' Leads ASC Award TV Nominations

The HBO drama series grabs two noms in one-hour episodic category, 'Mildred Pierce' is among the nominees for TV movie/miniseries, while 'Modern Family' gets a nod in a half-hour episodic category.

AceShowbiz - The American Society of Cinematographers (ASC) has announced the TV nominations of its 26th annual Outstanding Achievement Awards. HBO dominates the list with "Boardwalk Empire" scoring two nods in the one-hour episodic television series/pilot category.

The period drama series will compete with British series "Downton Abbey", ABC's newbie "Pan Am" and NBC's procedural drama "Chase" to take home the prize. Meanwhile, "Mildred Pierce", "Chicago Overcoat", "The Kennedys", "Page Eight" and "Any Human Heart" fight against each other for the television movie/miniseries kudo.

In addition to those two categories, this year's competition includes a new TV category for a half-hour episodic series or pilot. The nominees are "Modern Family", "R.L. Stine's The Haunting Hour", "Man Up!", "Californication", as well as the recently canceled HBO series "Bored to Death".

The ASC Awards will be presented on February 12, 2012 at the The Grand Ballroom at Hollywood & Highland. Nominees for movie categories will be announced Tuesday, January 10.
