The 'Queen' actress is set to provide the inner voice of one of the characters on the musical hit series when it returns to the small screen on January 17, 2012.

AceShowbiz - "Glee" will have a very special guest when it returns to the small screen on January 17, 2012. TVLine reported that Oscar winner Helen Mirren has been set to make a cameo on the FOX hit series. She will provide the "inner voice" of a character whose identity is still being kept a secret.

"Helen came in and secretly recorded several long and hilarious monologues two weeks ago," spilled one inside source on the 66-year-old's participation on the comedy musical series. "Then she visited the kids on set, and they had no idea she was coming, they were stunned."

On how "Glee" got Mirren to fill the role which was written especially for her, it was said that frequent director Eric Stoltz, who happened to be the Oscar winner's friend, was asked by the producers to sell the idea. But, the veteran actress didn't need much to be convinced since she is "a big fan of the show and the message it sends out about arts and education."

Beside Mirren, "Glee" will have some other A-list guest stars for its upcoming episodes on the third season. Singers Gloria Estefan and Ricky Martin as well as "The Real Housewives of Atlanta" star NeNe Leakes are some of them.

About Estefan in particular, Naya Rivera told E! News, "Gloria Estefan is playing my mom so I'm really excited for that, it's like a huge honor. I'm sure she will [sing]. You cant let that go!" As for Leakes, the 24-year-old gushed, "I'm a huge fan of all the 'Housewives' franchises. So when I found out that NeNe was coming I was obviously was flipping out then I got to meet her and she's awesome, she's very sweet."
