It's Official, Harrison Ford Cast as Colonel Graff in 'Ender's Game'

After being long courted to star in the upcoming sci-fi movie, Ford is now officially tapped to play the lead character who is described as the trainer of young recruits at an elite military academy.

AceShowbiz - "Ender's Game" has officially added veteran actor Harrison Ford to its cast ensemble. Variety reported that after being long courted to star in the high-profile sci-fi movie, the 69-year-old thesp has now been tapped to play Colonel Hyram Graff, who is described as the man who trains the young recruits at an elite military academy.

Along with Ford, the novel-adapted film has also cast Oscar nominee Abigail Breslin as Ender's older sister Valentine Wiggin. Both Ford and Breslin are set to join "Hugo" star Asa Butterfield who tackles the titular character and Hailee Steinfeld who plays his right hand Petra Arkanian.

"Ender's Game" revolves around Andrew "Ender" Wiggin. The story is set in the time after the Earth is assaulted by alien and gifted children are recruited by the government to take revenge. Those kids are trained with a simulated battle game and only the best one will be chosen. Ender emerges as the chosen kid and soon he becomes Earth's best hope to defeat the alien Formic race.

The forthcoming film is also supported by Aramis Knight as new recruit Bean, Moises Arias as Salamander Army commander Bonzo, Jimmy Pinchak as Ender's older brother Peter, Suraj Parthasarathy as Ender's bestfriend Alai, Conor Carroll new recruits leader Bernard, and Khylin Rhambo as Rat Army member Dink. Additionally, Ben Kingsley is in talks to play seasoned soldier Mazer Rackham.

Gavin Hood is directing the film from his own script, which is adapted from Orson Scott Card's award-winning novel of the same title. Summit Entertainment is co-financing the sci-fi movie and will release it in theaters across the U.S. on March 15, 2013.
