Movie

The anticipated first sneak peek at 'The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey' will be played in front of 'The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn', which is released on December 21.

AceShowbiz - The long-running question about when Warner Bros. Pictures will unleash the first trailer for "The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey" has been answered. The studio has confirmed that the anticipated sneak peek at the fantasy film will be attached to "The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn", which opens in the U.S. on December 21.

Through its official Twitter account, the studio announced on Friday, December 16, "Get your 1st look at the return to Middle-earth on 12/21 when the trailer for #TheHobbit: An Unexpected Journey plays before @Tintin_Movie!"

Previously it was reported that the first trailer for "The Hobbit", along with a brand new trailer for "The Dark Knight Rises", might be attached to "Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows". However, it seems Warners has decided to pair it with "Tintin" instead.

"The Hobbit" follows the journey of Frodo's uncle Bilbo Baggins. Along with his trusted friend Thorin Oakenshield and the twelve dwarves, Bilbo embarks on an epic adventure to the Lonely Mountain to reclaim a lost treasure that was stolen by the dragon Smaug.

Directed, co-produced and co-written by Peter Jackson, "The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey" is due to open in the U.S. theaters on December 14, 2012, while its follow-up "The Hobbit: There and Back Again" will be released nationwide on December 13, 2013.

The fantasy epic stars Martin Freeman, Richard Armitage, Andy Serkis, Ian McKellen, Cate Blanchett, Elijah Wood, Orlando Bloom, Christopher Lee, Evangeline Lilly and Luke Evans among others.
