'New Girl' beauty Deschanel says her nod is 'a huge vote of confidence for nerdy girls', while 'Big Bang Theory' actor Galecki thought the publicist who texted him about his nomination was drunk.

AceShowbiz - Zooey Deschanel, Johnny Galecki and Sofia Vergara were some of the stars who received good news on early Thursday, December 15 when the 2012 Golden Globe Award nominations were announced. Playing the bubbly Jess on "New Girl", Deschanel saw her best musical or comedy actress nomination as "a huge vote of confidence for nerdy girls everywhere."

"I am completely overwhelmed with happiness!" she admitted, before praising the "incredible cast, crew, team of writers and producers" she has been working with. She added, "I am so grateful to the HFPA for giving us all this honor and grateful to be nominated with such talented and amazing ladies who I respect so much."

Galecki, meanwhile, needed a few moment before he's convinced that he is one of the nominees for best musical or comedy actor. "They started texting me at 5:20 in the morning and I accused them of being misinformed and drunk," he said with a laugh. "I replied with, 'You're misfiring texts to ['The Mentalist' star] Simon Baker or someone else, this can not be true."

The Leonard Hofstadter of "The Big Bang Theory" started to believe it after he saw with his own eyes that his name is on the list. "They told me, 'No, it's you, go to HollywoodReporter.com' and they sent me the link because I couldn't believe it," he recalled, revealing that he is "touched, proud and stunned" with the honor.

Being nominated as Best Supporting Actress in TV Series, Mini-Series, or Made-for-TV Movie for the second time, "Modern Family" beauty Vergara knows she deserves it. "I did great, I think, you know? There were a lot of people laughing so I guess I did it right," she said about her portrayal of Gloria Delgado-Pritchett on the ABC series.

As for Bryan Cranston, he cracked a joke when reacting to his best drama actor nod. "Perhaps the reason that I haven't won a Golden Globe is, I haven't showered with them. I've showered with all the Emmy voters, and that's turned out to work in my favor. I have a lot of showering to do with members of the Hollywood Foreign Press," the "Breaking Bad" actor enthused.

Although she does not receive an individual recognition, Lea Michele has also weighed in on "Glee" nomination as Best TV Comedy or Musical. "So happy honored excited thrilled that #Glee was nominated for a Golden Globe!! So amazing! Time to start looking for some dresses!" the Rachel Berry depicter tweeted.

Her co-star Chris Colfer chimed in, "I'm so excited for Glee's THRID Golden Globe nomination! And this will be the first Globes I can drink the champagne at! Woot-woot!" while Harry Shum Jr. added, "Proud of the Glee team for the Golden Globe nomination!"

The TV nominees for the 69th Annual Golden Globe Awards are led by "Downton Abbey" and "Mildred Pierce" with four each. The winners will be announced at a gala held on January 15, 2012 and hosted by Ricky Gervais. NBC will broadcast the show live.
