Katniss Heads to Main Capitol Arena in Fresh 'Hunger Games' Poster

After randomly releasing 100 pieces of the poster, Lionsgate Films unveils the full version of the one-sheet that sees the heroine standing tall at the arena while carrying her trusty bow and arrows.

A hundred days before opening wide in the U.S. theaters, "" debuted its brand new poster. After randomly unleashing 100 puzzle pieces of the one-sheet, Lionsgate Films finally unveiled the full version of the image that sees Katniss Everdeen from the back, heading to the main Capitol arena while carrying her trusty bow and arrows.

The lead heroine is seen getting ready to enter the arena under the watchful eyes of thousands of spectators. A number of banners featuring her and Peeta Mellark's face are being put up on either side of the arena, while high above the stage hangs a flaming mockingjay symbol.

Every year, the nation of Panem forces each of its twelve districts to send a teenage boy and girl, called "Tributes", to compete in a fight-to-the-death event called the Hunger Games. Part twisted entertainment, part government intimidation tactic, the games are a nationally televised event in which the Tributes must fight one another until one survivor remains.

Pitted against highly-trained Tributes who have prepared for these games their entire lives, Katniss is forced to rely upon her sharp instincts as well as the mentorship of drunken former victor Haymitch Abernathy. If she's ever to return home to District 12, Katniss must make impossible choice in the arena that weigh survival against humanity and life against love.

Serving behind the lens for "The Hunger Games" is Gary Ross with Billy Ray providing the script. tackles the part of Katniss, while plays Peeta. Also supporting the highly anticipated movie are , , , , and among others.

Based on the first book of Suzanne Collins' best-selling novel trilogy, the movie is due to arrive in theaters nationwide on March 23, 2012.
