Alec Baldwin Popped Up on 'SNL' to Apologize to Himself

December 11, 2011 (11:57 am) GMT
In a thinly-veiled performance, the actor discussed the recent incident which got him kicked out of American Airlines.

Although it was 's turn to shine on "" this weekend, stole the spotlight for a few minutes. Appearing on "Weekend Update", the actor posed as the American Airlines pilot who kicked him off a recent flight for refusing to stop playing a mobile phone game before takeoff.

Baldwin's sole purpose to appear on the sketch program was to apologize to himself. "It was awful Seth," Baldwin's Captain Rogers told host . "Which is why it was important for me to come here and on behalf of everyone at American Airlines, issue an apology to Mr. Alec Baldwin!" He added, "Mr. Baldwin is an American treasure!"

Like a true journalist, Myers asked, "It was also reported that Alec Baldwin slammed the bathroom door so loudly it could be heard in the cockpit?" Captain Rogers replied, "Now Seth, Words with Friends can be frustrating. But when you think you're about to play 'jailers' off of somebody's 'quiche' and you realize you don't have the 'i' - let me tell you - that would make you slam the door too!"

Meyers questioned further, "Don't phones interfere with the plane's communication system?" The mustachioed pilot then said, "Oh, you don't believe that, do you, Seth? Would you really get on an airplane that flies 30,000 feet in the air if you thought a Kindle switch would bring it down? Come on it's just a cruel joke perpetrated by the airline industry."

All the while, Meyers repeatedly asked Baldwin of the obvious, "Are you sure this is the right way to handle this?" American Airlines has not responded to the sketch.
