The fresh image from the 'Clash of the Titans' sequel sees Worthington's Perseus wielding a pair of tridents as he runs angrily while donning his armor.

AceShowbiz - The first official look at Sam Worthington's Perseus in "Wrath of the Titans" has emerged in the latest edition of Entertainment Weekly. The scanned version has landed online, featuring the demigod son of Zeus with a longer hair while being clad in an armor. Looking furious, he holds a pair of tridents while running.

Explaining about Perseus' new weapon, director Jonathan Liebesman said, "The trident is but one of several celestial weapons Perseus has to bring together 'in order to create an uber-weapon'." He continued, "But that's probably a massive spoiler. I haven't practiced being spoiler-proof yet."

This sequel to 2010's "Clash of the Titans" is set a decade after Perseus heroically defeated the Kraken. While he attempts to live a quieter life as a village fisherman and sole parent to 10-year old Helius, a struggle for supremacy rages between the gods and the Titans. Weakened by humanity's lack of devotion, the gods are losing control of the imprisoned Titans and their ferocious leader, Kronos.

When Hades and Ares team up to capture Zeus, Perseus cannot ignore his true calling. Enlisting the help of the warrior Queen Andromeda, Poseidon's demigod son Argenor, and fallen god Hephaestus, he bravely embarks on a treacherous quest into the underworld to rescue Zeus, overthrow the Titans and save mankind.

Penning the script for "Wrath of the Titans" are David Leslie Johnson and Dan Mazeau. In addition to Worthington, other returning cast members are Liam Neeson, Danny Hutson and Ralph Fiennes as Zeus, Poseidon and Hades respectively. The Greek-myth epic film is slated for a March 30, 2012 release in the U.S.
