Director Barry Levinson claims that the producers have solved the financial problem so that 'Gotti: In the Shadow of My Father' could continue, adding, 'It's coming together.'

After being rumored to be shut down due to financial issue, "Gotti: In the Shadow of My Father" finds a new hope. Director and writer Barry Levinson has revealed that there's a possibility to continue the project since the producers have overcome the budgetary problem.
Levinson shared the good news while attending the BAFTA L.A.'s Britannia Awards at the Beverly Hilton Hotel on Wednesday night, November 30. He told E! News, "I think we've got the money sorted out now. It's coming together." He added that the movie is expected to be filmed in Howard Beach, New York.
The much talked-about John Gotti movie has tapped John Travolta to star as Gotti Sr. Levinson said that the film will not only focus on the late mobster, but also on his beloved son Gotti Jr., who will be played by Ben Foster.
"It's not just him, but John Gotti Jr.," explained the director. "The dynamic that is interesting to me is Gotti Jr. growing up in the shadow of his father and thinking he was supposed to step up as the next Don and then suddenly realizing that this is not a world he wants to be part of and how do you deal with that."
Back in October, Deadline reported that "Gotti" was on the verge of being shut down. At that time, it was said that producer Marc Fiore didn't not have the cash to finance the production. Fiore reportedly promised too much money for the actors without having any backings.
Based on true event, "Gotti: In the Shadow of My Father" follows John Gotti, a father who lives and dies by the Mob code. His beloved son John Gotti Jr., however, refuses to follow his path in the mafia world and chooses to redeem himself. The film additionally stars Al Pacino, Lindsay Lohan, Kelly Preston as well as Ella Bleu.
