The sneak-peek sees intense scenes as Cusack's Edgar Allan Poe and Luke Evans' Emmet Fields get involved in a very dangerous cat-and-mouse game with a mysterious serial killer.

AceShowbiz - An international trailer for "The Raven" has arrived. Shorter than the previously released trailer, the new promo videos centers on various brutal murders of some ladies. In it, John Cusack's Edgar Allan Poe and his partner Luke Evans' Emmet Fields are seen engaging in a deadly cat-and-mouse game with a sadistic serial killer.

Their journey starts when a mother and daughter are found brutally slaughtered in 19th century Baltimore. Fields discovers a shocking fact on the case; the crime resembles a fictional murder described in gory details in the local newspaper-part of a collection of stories written by Poe, who is a struggling author. But even as Poe is questioned by police, another grisly murder occurs, also inspired by a popular Poe story.

Realizing a serial killer is on the loose using Poe's writings as the backdrop for his bloody rampage, Fields enlists the author's help in stopping the attacks. However, when it appears someone close to Poe may become the killer's next victim, the stakes become even higher and the inventor of the detective story calls on his own powers of deduction to try to solve the case before it's too late.

"The Raven" is directed by "V for Vedetta" helmer James McTeigue with Ben Livingston and Hannah Shakespeare penning the screenplay. Joining Cusack and Evans in the cast ensemble are Alice Eve as Poe's wife Virgina, Brendan Gleeson as Colonel Hamilton, and Oliver Jackson-Cohen as Cantrell. The thriller is set to arrive in U.S. theaters on March 9, 2012.
