Sarah Wayne Callies says her character's biggest fear is that Shane assumes the baby is his, and that her husband Rick and his best friend Shane might kill each other over this.

AceShowbiz - Lori was about to abort her pregnancy in the latest episode of "The Walking Dead" by taking morning-after pills before throwing them up. In a new interview with TV Guide, Sarah Wayne Callies explains another reason, aside from her fear of bringing a child into such a harsh world, why her character contemplated about getting rid of the innocent baby.
"Quite frankly, one of the reasons that she considered terminating the pregnancy is because it has the ability to tear these men [Rick and Shane] apart, and that has huge implications not just to her personal life, but to everyone's safety," Callies says. "There's a part of her that's afraid they might kill each other. This is the kind of thing men kill each other over."
Lori is also unsure who fathers the baby since she once had an affair with Shane when she thought Rick was dead. Callies admits that Lori's biggest fear right now is that Shane might assume it as his, "because there's no way to be sure whose baby it is, unless it turns out that she's two months pregnant and it happened before Rick was shot. But at this point, there's no timeline, so she's really afraid."
Also in the November 20 outing, Lori finally admitted to Rick that she slept with Shane, but the former sheriff apparently has known about it for a long time. Talking about what comes next after the confession, Callies shares, "It actually opens the door for things to begin to heal for them. He deeply needed to hear her say that she thought he was gone. She wasn't secretly burning a candle for Shane for the last eight years of their marriage."
Although Lori has a hard time getting Shane out of her mind, Callies says their relationship was purely physical at its inception. She reasons, "I don't think Shane ever crossed Lori's mind as anything other than a dear friend until she was in his arms the night that Atlanta fell.... Lori's having a much harder time putting it out of her mind and putting Shane out of her mind than she ever would've anticipated."
The last few episodes of "Walking Dead" also dealt with the walkers which are kept in the Hersel barn. Speaking of this, Callies explains that the barn bring the characters "back into a world where everybody realizes that we're not safe and we're not going to be safe."
After the midseason finale that will air this Sunday, November 27, "the second half of the season has a very different character because of what the barn represents and how the situation is handled," she goes on revealing.
