AceShowbiz - After unveiling a first look at the fearsome White Ape in "John Carter", Walt Disney Pictures has revealed how Woola will look like in the novel-adapted movie. One of several freshly released stills from the film sees Woola in a close-up shot. It is seen staring at Taylor Kitsch's titular character.

Woola is a Martian dog, which is also known as Calot, and is the pet of Carter and his family. In the book, the creature is described as a big, ugly beast with ten short legs and a frog-like head. It once served as the guard-dog of Tharks at Korad. Woola first met Carter when the the green woman Sola told it to guard the virginian so that he couldn't escape.

In addition to Woola's first look, some other pictures feature the lead hero in various scenes. In one photo, he is seen standing face to face with princess Dejah Thoris, while in another he is seen staring at something together with Barsoomian warrior Tars Tarkas. There's additionally an image that gives a look at what appears to be Martian airships.

"John Carter" centers on an American Civil War veteran who suddenly enters a nearly collapse planet Mars a.k.a Barsoom. There, he becomes a hero who saves the planet from destruction. In his adventure, he meets Tars Tarkas who becomes his ally in rescuing Red Martian princess Dejah Thoris from belligerent four-armed Green Martians.

Edgar Rice Burroughs' classic novel, the fantasy film is directed by Andrew Stanton and is scheduled to arrive in U.S. theaters on March 9, 2012. Joining Taylor Kitsch in the cast ensemble are Lynn Collins, Willem Dafoe, Samantha Morton, Dominic West, James Purefoy and Mark Strong.
