'Amazing Race' Recap: Lost Tickets, Skimpy Outfits and No Break
The ninth leg of "The Amazing Race" season 19 gave a big surprise to all contestants. Ernie and Cindy, who won in the previous leg, departed first for the challenge that still took place in Denmark. They headed to a statue of Hans Christian Anderson where they must remember a poem to get their first clue.
After memorizing the poem, the contestants must use a map on a provided bicycle's wheel to ride themselves to the Theater Museum in the Court where they must recite the poem in a dramatic reading. Cindy nailed it on the first try.
Bill and Cathi, who departed right after Ernie and Cindy, were lost in their way to the theater. The grandparents had to go back and try it again after Cathi failed in the first attempt. Amani and Marcus completed the challenge before Bill and Cathi, while Andy and Tommy as well as Sandy and Tommy also had to go back because they were not dramatic enough when reciting the poem.
After getting the next clue, the teams headed to Legoland Billund and found the Pirate Carousel where they received a box of Lego. They had to go on the ride and put the Lego together while the ride was in motion to build their clue to show them their next destination, which is Hamburg, Germany.
Ernie and Cindy completed the puzzle first and headed to a train station where they must take a train to Brussels, Belgium. All the teams eventually got into the same train, and Ernie and Cindy's strong start was almost ruined when they realized that they lost their tickets. The couple couldn't afford to buy new tickets, but they still hopped the train in hope they would not be kicked out.
When arriving in Brussels, the teams went to the parliament building where they must perform in a bodybuilding competition in honor of Jean-Claude Van Damme. The first team who got the first score of 12 or more from judges would get the next clue.
All of the contestants changed their clothes with skimpy bathing suits and used special oil to highlight their muscles. Ernie and Cindy took the stage first, followed by Andy and Tommy, but these two teams did not reach the expected score and had to do it again.
Amani and Marcus, meanwhile, got 12 on the first try and headed to the pit stop at Parc Elisabeth. They were the first team to arrive in this leg and won a free trip to Panama. However, they did not get a time off since host Phil Keoghan announced that the next leg started right "now".
The November 20 episode ended without revealing the finish orders of the other teams. In the next leg, the remaining teams would face other challenges in Belgium.
