Heavy D's Private Funeral Set for November 18, Mary J. Blige Among Those Invited

Fans are given a chance to pay a final tribute to the 'Now That We Found Love' rapper, who passed away on November 8, at a public viewing held a day prior to the funeral service.

AceShowbiz - Funeral date has been set for Heavy D, who passed away after collapsing outside his Beverly Hills home on Tuesday, November 8. The late "Now That We Found Love" rapper will be laid to rest next Friday, November 18 during a private burial service in New York, TMZ reported.

The ceremony will be restricted only to the close members of the 44-year-old's family and a select number of his celebrity friends. Words are, Mary J. Blige, P. Diddy and several of the Wayans brothers are among those included on the invite list. Former Heavy D & the Boyz members, Eddie F and G-Whiz, are also expected to be in attendance.

One day prior to the private service, fans are given a chance to pay a final tribute to the rap legend. A spokesperson for the Yannantuono Funeral Home confirms to E! News that a public viewing and visitation will take place at Grace Baptist Church in Mount Vernon, New York from noon to 9 P.M.

Heavy D was pronounced dead on Tuesday afternoon at Los Angeles' Cedars-Sinai Medical Center after being found collapsed on the walkway of his Beverly Hills home. The Los Angeles County Coroner's office refused to announce a preliminary cause of death, but it was noted that the rapper "had what appeared to be like flu-like symptoms" before his death.
