'Real Housewives of Atlanta' Has Most-Watched Premiere for Franchise

The first episode of the show's fourth season drew 2.9 million viewers, marking the biggest premiere audience for the Bravo franchise.

AceShowbiz - The return of NeNe Leakes and co. was apparently eargely awaited by "The Real Housewives of Atlanta" fans. Nearly 2.9 million people tuned in the season 4 premiere of the Bravo reality series on Sunday, November 6, marking the highest premiere ratings for the hit "Real Housewives" franchise.

The number of the total viewers shows a 20|percent| increase from last season's debut which averaged 2.4 million audience in October 2010. It lured 1.9 million people in the coveted 18-49 demo, up 10|percent| from the season 3 opener.

Leakes, who joined the show since the first season, later took to Twitter to thank fans for their support. "Thanks for tuning n!...Real Housewives of Atlanta' Draws Biggest Premiere Ratings for Franchise," she wrote.

Her co-star Kim Zolciak tweeted a similar message on her own account, "Thank you to all our viewers! RT @Real_Housewives: #RHOA 2.9m season premiere is the highest Real Housewives season premiere EVER!"

The 2.9 million audience, however, was fry cry from the number of people tuning in the season 3 finale. The January 30 episode hit the series high with 4.4 million viewers.
