The former 'Pirates of Caribbean' actress is eyed to star in 'Untouched', a period drama project that will be competing with Emma Thompson's similar film project called 'Effie'.

AceShowbiz - Keira Knightley has been eyed to star in another biopic about Euphemia "Effie" Gray. The former "Pirates of Caribbean" actress is in talks to play the unhappy young bride in a film project called "Untouched", which will be a rival for "Effie" starring Dakota Fanning as the titular character.

While Fanning's "Effie" already enters the production, "Untouched" is still in the early phase of pre-production. Brazilian director Andrucha Waddington has been tapped to helm the upcoming period drama, while Aleksandra Crapanzano is set to pen the script. Producing the project are Barnaby Thompson, Lucia Seabra, Maria Teresa Arida and Lauren Versel.

According to Thompson on Hollywood, "Untouched" follows the real-life love affair between young Effie, who is trapped in a "loveless" marriage, with her British art critic husband John Ruskin and his protege, painter John Everett Millais. The film project is currently being shopped at the American Film Market.

As for Fanning's version of Effie Gray biopic, the project has been filming in Greenwich, London since October. Emma Thompson pens the script, with Richard Laxton serving as the director. While Fanning tackles the female lead role, Thompson's husband Greg Wise is cast as Ruskin and English heartthrob Tom Sturridge is set to play Effie's secret lover, Millais.
