On the Top 12 performance show, the former 'American Idol' judge is so proud for having suggested Stacy Francis from Nicole Scherzinger's 'Over 30s' group to embrace gospel.

Simon Cowell could not help taking over his fellow mentor's duty when watching a contestant's talent is not optimally exposed on "The X Factor (US)". On the Top 12 performance show, the show's creator proudly stated that he gave an advice to Stacy Francis from Nicole Scherzinger's 'Over 30s' group on her song choice that night.
"Some of the best singers in the world are what I call church singers, like Aretha Franklin, that's what I mean, what's wrong with that?" Simon explained as he advised Stacy to go gospel with her rendition of Patty Griffin's "Up to the Mountain" that closed the Wednesday, November 2 episode.
He went on adding, "But Stacy got it so wrong last week. So I'm going to take responsibility for what she's singing tonight. If she gets it wrong tonight I'll take full responsibility - but this is more me than Nicole with Stacy this week, it's been me guiding her."
Simon's advice indeed worked for Stacy with other judges praising her performance. L.A. Reid gushed, "You stirred our souls," while Paula Abdul called it "a shining moment." Looking satisfied, Simon told the aspiring singer with a smile, "I think you want to give me a kiss, don't you?"
Other standouts on the Top 12 performance show included The Stereo Hoggz who were dubbed the best band in the world right now by Simon, Josh Krajcek who made his mentor Nicole "feel like a proud mom," Melanie Amaro whom Simon described as "the one to beat," and Drew Ryniewicz who made L.A. amazed.
Starting this episode, fans can cast their votes to determine who will be sent home from the show. The results will be unveiled in a Thursday, November 3 episode which airs at 8/7c on FOX.
