The show has announced on Tuesday, October 25 that fans can cast their votes for the finalists starting November 2 by sending a message to its official Twitter account.

AceShowbiz - "The X Factor (US)" has reduced its contestants from 17 to 12 on the first live show on Tuesday, October 25. Each judge picked one from their own team to be sent home, except for Simon Cowell who must axe two singers in "Girls" category.

After Brian "Astro" Bradley from "Boys" group sang Kris Kross' "Jump", Cowell told L.A. Reid, "If this kid doesn't make it through to the finals you are literally insane." The 15-year-old indeed secured a place in the next round alongside Chris Rene and Marcus Canty. This means Phillip Lomax ended his dream to be "X Factor" winner that night.

Next, Paula Abdul eliminated The Brewer Boys from the "Groups" category. "You surpassed my expectations," the 49-year-old singer/actress told the California brothers. "I believe in both of you. You're going to go on and have careers." She sent Lakoda Rayne, InTENsity and Stereo Hogzz to the top 12.

In "Over 30s" category, Nicole Scherzinger cut Dexter Haygood from the pack after he performed a mash-up of Britney Spears' "Womanizer" and Katy Perry's "I Kissed a Girl." Cowell called it the "weirdest milkshake in the world but I kind of like the taste of it." Thus, the 49-year-old soul singer was "kind of confused" when ex-The Pussycat Dolls star decided to let him go and keep LeRoy Bell, Stacy Francis as well as Josh Krajcik instead.

When his turn came, Cowell said he faced the toughest decision he's ever had. He finally chose to send home Simone Battle and Tiah Tolliver, although he tried to console the former when other judges seemed to be unimpressed by her performance. Meanwhile, Rachel Crow, Drew Ryniewicz and Melanie Amaro made it to the top 12.

While the journey of the 12 finalists was determined by the judges so far, audience's opinions will be counted next week. It has been announced that fans can vote for their favorites starting November 2 by sending a message Twitter to the official "X Factor" account. Voting will also open via the show's Facebook page and its official website.
