The 'Heartbreak Warfare' singer reveals on his blog that he has undergone surgery to remove the inflamed nodule near his vocal cords that force him to delay the release of his fifth studio album.

AceShowbiz - John Mayer is taking a complete vocal rest after a throat surgery. A little more than a month after announcing that he had an inflamed nodule or tumor-like mass of tissue just above his vocal cords, the "Waiting on the World to Change" singer revealed through his blog that he has gone under the knife to correct the condition.

"I had surgery this afternoon to remove it and am now on complete vocal rest for a month or more," wrote the 34-year-old on Thursday, October 20. "It's been a very long process in waiting to see if time was an alternative to surgery, but even given two weeks' voice rest (along with many other approaches), there was no change for the better."

Keeping a positive mind, the Grammy winner continued, "I should be frustrated but I can't seem to stop thinking about beautiful things..." He added, "I never thought I'd be wishing I could do what I love again; I stay in at night, picking guitar parts off of records and dreaming of playing on the big stage."

"The only difference between now and when I was 18 is that now I have this beautiful, meaningful record waiting for me when I can sing it," he noted before closing his message with, "Until then, I'm taking off. Going to travel the country, look and listen."

Aside from giving update on his condition, John also made use of the posting to thank his fans for their birthday wishes. The singer, who turned 34 on October 16, wrote, "P.S. thanks to those who sent birthday wishes, especially those who contributed to the Happy Birthday video...I streamed it to TV and let it run like a music playlist for the whole 30 minutes on my birthday."

John announced his granuloma diagnosis in September. At the time, he shared to his fans that the condition forced him to cancel a number of scheduled concerts, including appearances with Tony Bennett in Los Angeles and at the iHeartRadio Music Festival in Las Vegas. He also has to push back the release of his fifth studio album, "Born and Raised", to 2012.
