Grossing $27.3 million, the Hugh Jackman-starring robot-boxing film earns twice more than George Clooney's political drama to claim the champion title.

AceShowbiz - "Real Steel" successfully tops the North American box office this weekend. Receiving an "A" CinemaScore, the Hugh Jackman-starring robot-boxing action drama, which production cost $110 million, earned $27.3 million in its opening week.
Dave Hollis, Walt Disney Pictures executive vice president of distribution said, "The film succeeded in playing to a variety of demos." The Shawn Levy-directed movie appealed to 36|percent| of moviegoers under the age of 18 and 51|percent| under the age of 25, with 59|percent| of them males.
Another new release, George Clooney's "The Ides of March", secures the second spot on the chart. Grossing $10.4 million, the political drama, which also stars Ryan Gosling, attracted mostly to adult viewers, with 86|percent| of them over the age of 25. Sony president of worldwide distribution Rory Burer said, "The acting is absolutely tremendous. You couldn't take your eyes off any one of these actors."
Last week chart-topper "Dolphin Tale" falls to the third place this week. The movie collected $9.1 million for a total domestic cume of $49.1 million. Meanwhile, Brad Pitt's baseball drama "Moneyball" stays on number four with $7.4 million. Rounding up the top five is Joseph Gordon-Levitt's dramedy "50/50" with $5.6 million after after its audience dropped 36% from last week.
