NBC Picks Up Sitcom Starring Snoop Dogg

A family comedy show, the not-yet-named project will be written by sitcom veteran Don Reo.

From the man who has written episodes of "", "My Wife and Kids" and "", comes a new sitcom that has as the main star. Don Reo's comedy project has landed at NBC with a script in the works.

Per Deadline, Snoop will play a dad in the show. The rapper, who has previously worked with Reo on FOX's sitcom "", will also have a producer's credit. No other details about the show were released.

NBC had a mixed success with rapper sitcoms. 's "The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air" had a good six-years run in the '90s while a 2001 pilot starring Sisqo and Bob Newhart was notoriously awful.

Beside a real-life father, Snoop has a good experience on TV appearances. His reality show on E!, "Snoop Dogg's Father Hood" aired well over two seasons.
