Steven Spielberg Eyed to Direct WB's Biblical Epic About Moses
Movie

Although no official offer has been made, the Oscar-winning filmmaker has been picked by Warner Bros. Pictures to direct a movie based on the Book of Exodus called 'Gods and Kings'.

AceShowbiz - Warner Bros. Pictures is interested to develop a new biblical epic called "Gods and Kings". For the upcoming project, the studio wants none other than Oscar-winning filmmaker Steven Spielberg to serve as the director.

According to Deadline, Warner has not booked any formal meeting with Spielberg. Nonetheless, the director has reportedly read the script, which is penned by screenwriters Michael Green and Stuart Hazeldine.

Although sealing Spielberg for the project will not be easy because "his deal is complex and his dance card is always full", Warner will still pursue the 64-year-old filmmaker and make a discussion with him soon. It is also said that the studio is willing to share the project with DreamWorks.

"Gods and Kings" is based on the Book of Exodus and other stories from the Old Testament. It follows the life of Moses from his birth to death. In between, there is his awakening to the plight of the Hebrew slaves that led Moses' struggle against the Pharaoh for their freedom out of Egypt; the Ten Plagues; the Burning Bush; the daring escape across the Red Sea; receiving the Ten Commandments, and delivery to Israel.

According to some insiders, the upcoming movie is not a remake of Cecile B. DeMille's "The Then Commandments", which is released in 1956, although it has similar plot. Matti Leshem and Dan Lin are on board as producers for the upcoming movie.
