AceShowbiz - Melissa Etheridge has been honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Witnessed by family and hundreds of fans, the Grammy winner and breast cancer survivor received the 2,450th star during an unveiling ceremony taking place in front of the Hard Rock Cafe Hollywood on Tuesday (September 27) morning.

"Let my life be an inspiration to anyone, gay, straight, breast cancer, woman, mother, any human being who receives the inspiration from my story," said the 50-year-old in her acceptance speech. "You can have a dream that you can grown up in a small Midwestern town and believe, and desire, and create a life and end up with your star on the Walk of Fame on Hollywood Boulevard."

The unveiling ceremony marked the launch of Hard Rock's month-long Pinktober campaign, a series of concerts and celebrity events held to raise money and breast cancer awareness. Melissa herself, who is best known for hits like "Come to My Window" and "I'm the Only One", has been an artist ambassador for Pinktober for six years.
