Presenting plenty explicit footage, the video follows Kate Lloyd and her paleontologist team who find a frozen alien, which then breaks free and destroys living creatures.

AceShowbiz - Universal Pictures has unveiled a red band trailer for alien invasion-themed horror "The Thing" via IGN. The video presents plenty R-rated scenes of a scary creature that breaks free from a frozen ice block before it attacks human civilization. It shows that the alien has an ability to mimic any living creature and absorb it through digestion as well as demolish human's body.

The fresh one-minute trailer will be presented at the Halloween Horror Nights Terror Tram at Universal Studios in both Florida and Hollywood from September 23 to October 31. "Guests will find themselves in a series of face-to-face encounters with 'The Thing'," the studio explained.

A prequel to John Carpenter's 1982 movie, the sci-fi horror revolves around Kate Lloyd, a paleontologist who travels to the desolate region for the expedition of her lifetime. Joining a Norwegian scientific team that has stumbled across an extraterrestrial ship buried in the ice, she discovers an organism that seems to have died in the crash eons ago, but it is about to wake up.

When a simple experiment frees the alien from its frozen prison, Llyod must join the crew's pilot, Sam Carter, to keep it from killing them off one at a time. In this vast, intense land, a parasite that can mimic anything it touches will pit human against human as it tries to survive and flourish.

Mary Elizabeth Winstead plays the female protagonist, while Joel Edgerton stars as Sam Carter. They are joined by Eric Christian Olsen, Jonathan Walker and Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje. Directed by Matthijs van Heijningen Jr., the film is scheduled to be released in U.S. theaters on October 14.
