Antonio Banderas and Jessica Alba Among Movie Winners at 2011 ALMA Awards

Banderas and Alba nab the trophies for their roles in 'You Will Meet a Tall Dark Stranger' and 'Machete' respectively, while Alexa Vega wins favorite actress for 'From Prada to Nada'.

AceShowbiz - The winners of 2011 ALMA Awards have been honored at a ceremony held last Saturday evening, September 10. "A Better Life" scored Favorite Movie, while Antonio Banderas took home Favorite Movie Actor, and Jessica Alba won Favorite Movie Actress in Drama or Adventure Movie.

"You Will Meet a Tall Dark Stranger" star Banderas beat the likes of Demian Bichir, Bobby Cannavale, Michael Pena and Danny Trejo in nabbing the favorite actor title. "Machete" actress Alba, in the meantime, bested over Penelope Cruz, Rosario Dawson, Michelle Rodriguez and Zoe Saldana for her title.

Another individual win went to Alexa Vega. The Miami-born actress nailed Favorite Movie Actress in Drama or Adventure Movie for her portrayal of Mary in "From Prada to Nada". She came triumphant over such contenders as Eva Mendes, Selena Gomez, Cameron Diaz and Christina Aguilera.

To air on Friday, September 16 from 8:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. EDT on NBC, this year's ALMA Awards took place at the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium in Los Angeles. Hosted by Eva Longoria and George Lopez, the prize-giving event was dedicated for Latino actors and musicians who promote positive portrayals of Latinos in the entertainment field.
