'Sons of Anarchy' Season 4 Premiere Pulls Its Biggest Audience

The 90-minute episode on Tuesday, September 6 drew nearly 5 million viewers, up 20 percent from last season premiere.

AceShowbiz - "Sons of Anarchy" has set record audience with its fourth season opener. The 90-minute premiere episode that aired on Tuesday night, September 6 attracted 4.94 million total viewers, giving the show its highest ratings ever.

The number was up about 19 percent from the third season debut (4.13 million) last year. It also posted a 17 percent gain in adults 18-49 (3.22 million) compared to the first episode of season 3. Together with its two encore runs last night, the episode pulled 7.25 million total viewers.

"SOA" creator Kurt Sutter previously launched a personal challenge which offers one of his Twitter followers and one reader of his blog a chance to watch episode 10 of season 4 with him in his house in Thanksgiving week if the fourth season premiere sees at least 10 percent bump. Soon after the rating number was released, Sutter wrote on his Twitter, "yes, trip and swag will be gifted. i'll choose this weekend. post it on my blog on Monday."

A new episode titled "Booster" will air next week (Tuesday, September 13) at 10 P.M. on FX. A newly-released preview sees Jax landing in trouble as he is held hostage with a gun pointed on his neck, while new sheriff Eli Roosevelt makes his presence felt at SAMCRO's clubhouse.
