'Mentalist' and 'Criminal Minds' New Season Promo: Jane in Jail, Prentiss Back

August 31, 2011 (2:49 am) GMT
Patrick Jane may face a death penalty for shooting a man who is believed to be Red John, while Emily Prentiss reappears to protect the team that protected her.

Two CBS police procedural series, "" and "", have unleashed a promo each for their upcoming season. The preview for season 4 of the -starring show highlights Patrick Jane who is imprisoned, while the sneak peek for season 7 of the Jeff Davis-created series sees Emily Prentiss' return.

Jane ends up in jail after shooting Red John, the man who is responsible for the murder of his family. However, as the promo teases, there will be a question about whether Jane really killed Red John or a random civilian.

In "Criminal Minds", the team is surprised to learn that Prentiss is still alive. She apparently has been faking her own death and resurfaces to help the team who has to face a Senate Committee to explain their actions in the wake of Prentiss' loss.

"The Mentalist" will return on Thursday, September 22 at 10 P.M. with "Scarlet Ribbons". Meanwhile, the new season of "Criminal Minds" will be kicked off on September 21 at 9 P.M. with an episode titled "It Takes a Village".
