Hurricane Irene Scare Forces 'One Tree Hill' to Shut Down Production

Hurricane Irene has affected the production of "". The CW's series, which is currently filming the ninth and final season in Wilmington, North Carolina, has shut down the production for Friday and Saturday due to the weather scare.

"As a precautionary measure and in consideration of our cast and crew, 'One Tree Hill' production has shut down for today and tomorrow due to Hurricane Irene," a rep for the show explained in a statement. "We will continue to monitor the situation over the next few days."

"One Tree Hill" star has taken to Twitter to announce the news and alert fans about Irene. "OTH production has been canceled for tomorrow. All our fans in town, please stay inside! We will not be filming. Stay safe #HurricaneIrene," she wrote. Her co-star , meanwhile, tweeted, "Shutting down production tomorrow. Can't wait to dance with this large woman called Irene."

In light of Hurricane Irene threat, NYC Mayor's Office of Media and Entertainment has also revoked filming permits that had been issued for New York City for Sunday, August 28. Some projects which have rearranged their production schedules include reality shows "Hoarders" and "Clean House", as well as feature film "" starring and .

Meanwhile, movie theaters in the East Coast are also shutting down, and several Broadway productions have closed.

Irene is expected to touch-down North Carolina's Barrier Islands on Saturday, August 27. If the hurricane hits New York City hard and causes power outages, flooding, and transportation issues, more TV and film productions could be affected Monday.
