First 'Hunger Games' Footage Has a Glimpse of Katniss Everdeen

The teaser of 'Hunger Games' clip, which will be introduced at the 2011 MTV VMAs, features the female protagonist wearing her Hunger Games uniform while holding fear expression on her face.

MTV have unleashed a teaser to the "" clip. The short video highlights the flaming mockingjay symbol, and offers a quick glimpse at Katniss Everdeen in a scene from the movie. The female protagonist is seen donning her Hunger Games uniform and seemingly ducking from some unseen danger.

A longer look at the action drama movie will be debuted at 2011 MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday, August 28. The Katniss depicter, , is set to introduce the footage at the event.

Based on a best-selling novel with the same title by Suzzane Collins, the much-awaited movie follows Katniss as she replaces her little sister in a fight-to-the death live televised event called "Hunger Games". Although persevering through hardship is commonplace for Katniss, she must start making choices that weigh survival against humanity and life against love in order to win the games and return home.

"Hunger Games" is directed by Gary Ross, with Billy Ray providing the screenplay. In the cast ensemble, Lawrence is joined by who will play Gale Hawthorne as well as who will star as Peeta Mellark. The film will open in U.S. theaters on March 23, 2012, while its follow-up "Catching Fire" is scheduled to be released for 2013 Thanksgiving weekend on November 22.
