Though the suspicious-looking white powder in the letter sent to the 'Late Late Show' host turned out to be harmless, Los Angeles police will be working with the FBI to find out who sent it.

AceShowbiz - A threatening letter that contains white powder and is addressed to Craig Ferguson has been sent to CBS Television City. Even though the suspicious-looking substance turned out to be harmless, the host of "The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson" isn't pleased with the situation.

On Tuesday night, August 23, the 49-year-old took to his Twitter account to address the matter. "Ack!Someone mailed my show white powder & claimed it was anthrax. I'm not a big fan of that sort of thing," so he wrote. The stand-up comedian added in the same tweet, "#thanksFBI&LAPD&LAFD&CBSsecurity."

Two people at CBS Television City, where Craig's "Late Late Show" is filmed, were briefly quarantined after they were exposed to the powder at around 2:50 P.M. They were released from isolation after authorities declared that the potentially toxic substance was not dangerous.

Los Angeles police are currently probing the letter, which Officer Karen Rayner of LAPD media relations said was mailed from somewhere in Europe. The officer additionally told E! News, "The Major Crimes unit is handling the investigation. The letter did contain some threats directed at Craig Ferguson."

While she didn't detail the nature of the threat, Karen did note that the police "will be working with the FBI and our counterparts in Europe to investigate the crime." FBI spokeswoman Laura Eimiller confirmed to the Associated Press that the agency was working with police to find out who sent the letter.
