The actress who plays Katniss Everdeen has recorded a heart-wrenching and daunting song with composer T-Bone Burnett.

AceShowbiz - After circling on the web for quite a while, rumor that Jennifer Lawrence will lend her vocals to the soundtrack of "The Hunger Games" has finally been confirmed. Giving the official word is T-Bone Burnett who is booked to work on the score for the movie.

To MTV Hollywood Crush, the award-winning composer revealed that the Katniss depicter is going to sing "Rue's Lullaby", a tear-jerking tune she sings to her dying friend in the Arena. "It was beautiful," he teased. "She did great. She's singing great. Killer actor too."

Rumor has it, Lawrence recorded the haunting song at Echo Mountain Recording, a studio in Asheville. In a post on the studio's official blog, it's revealed that Burnett "flew his engineer Jason Wormer in from California for the session who chose to work in the API studio for the session."

"The Hunger Games" follows 16-year-old Katniss Everdeen who lives with her mother and younger sister in the poorest district of Panem, in the apocalyptic America. When her sister is chosen by lottery to participate in a fight-to-the-death annual event called the Hunger Games, Katniss steps up to take over her place.

An adaptation of Suzanne Collins' best-selling novel of the same title, the movie is scheduled to grace U.S. theaters on March 23, 2012. Starring Liam Hemsworth and Josh Hutcherson as Katniss' suitors, it is reportedly planned as a trilogy just like the book series.

Although the first movie is still far away from hitting theaters, its follow-up titled "Catching Fire" has already got an official release date. Lionsgate has announced that the sequel is set for 2013 Thanksgiving weekend on November 22.
