KISS' Participation in Michael Jackson Tribute Sparks Protests

His fans and lawyer for the Estate have slammed the concert promoters for including a band whose bassist Gene Simmons insulted Michael last year.

AceShowbiz - The intention may be good but it is not taken well. KISS' plan to take part at the Michael Jackson tribute concert on October 8 in Wales is dissed by the King of Pop's fans and Estate because the rock band's member Gene Simmons publicly called Michael a pedophile in 2010.

The bassist once told Classic Rock, "Where there's smoke, there's fire. There's no question in my mind he molested those kids. Not a doubt." He added, "The only sexual references ever made about Michael Jackson that were made by anyone, anywhere around the world, have always been made by kids, and specifically males usually 10 to 14 years of age; never females, that age or older, and never grown men."

KISS were officially confirmed as a line-up on Monday, August 15, joining Christina Aguilera and Kanye West among others. "I know [Michael] would be very excited about KISS," the late singer's mom Katherine told CNN.

But his fans and the executors of Michael Jackson Estate are not on the same page. The Facebook page "Michael Forever" has been filled with angry protests to the booking with one saying that it is like an insult to the legendary singer.

Howard Weitzman, lawyer for the Estate sent the promoters a letter where it was written, "It was extraordinarily embarrassing when no sooner than you announced this 'news' that he would participate in your concert that TMZ posted an item noting that Mr. Simmons called Michael Jackson - the man you are purportedly honoring - a child molester."

The Estate also questions where the proceeds would go because Joe Jackson and Leonard Rowe who often cash in on Michael's name are behind the concert. There is a possibility that they will take it to the court.

The protests come on the heels of Randy and Jermaine Jackson's condemnation of the show. The brothers believe that the concert, which was initiated by their parents and other siblings, is not in appropriate frame of time due to the criminal proceedings against Michael's doctor, Conrad Murray.
