Over the weekend, the crew of the Atlantis space shuttle woke up to special well wishes from Beyonce Knowles who sent the message along with the women-empowerment single.

has recorded a special wake-up call for astronauts who are aboard the Atlantis space shuttle on their Flight Day 9. The R&B diva opens the message by greeting Commander Chris Ferguson, Pilot Doug Hurley as well as Mission Specialists Rex Walheim and Sandy Magnus.

"Good morning, Atlantis. This is Beyonce," she introduced herself to the U.S. NASA crew before giving a special shout-out to them. "Sandy, Chris, Doug and Rex, you inspire all of us to dare to live our dreams, to know that we're smart enough and strong enough to achieve them."

The message was preceded by her single "Who Run the World (Girls)" which is specially dedicated to the only female member of the spaceship. "This song is especially for my girl Sandy," she said. "And all the women who've taken us to space with them and the girls who are our future explorers."

Sandy responded by thanking her back, "Good morning, Houston! A big thanks to Beyonce for taking some time out of her schedule to record us a greeting. We're ready for another day here in Atlantis! Hopefully we as a team at NASA can keep our inspirational work up for the young people of America."

The Atlantis crew are on a mission to deliver equipment and supplies. They reportedly will also branch out to other activities like picking up some station work, performing spacesuit maintenance and unpacking some of the cargos they've delivered.

For the past few weeks, Beyonce has been occupied with promo for her latest No. 1 album "4". She recently taped a TV special dubbed "A Night With Beyonce" at a London studio, but she reportedly was forced to cut it short because she struggled with her vocals. Blaming lack of rest for losing her voice, Beyonce had to extend the taping for another day.
