First teaser trailer of upcoming Taylor Kitsch-starring fantasy movie "John Carter" has been unleashed. The preview offers various heroic footage of a man named John Carter who gets transported to a historic world where he takes part in an epic warship, with a cover of Arcade Fire's "My Body Is a Cage" by Peter Gabriel being used as the backsound.

Based on Edgar Rice Burroughs's classic novel, "John Carter" tells the story of an American Civil War veteran who suddenly enters a nearly collapse planet Mars (Barsoom), where he then becomes a hero who saves Barsoom from destruction. During his journey to Barsoom, he meets Tars Tarkas (Willem Dafoe), who becomes his ally, and rescues a humanoid Red Martian princess Dejah Thoris (Lynn Collins) from the belligerent four-armed Green Martians.

The sci-fi movie is directed by Oscar-winning filmmaker Andrew Stanton, with Jim Morris, Colin Wilson and Susan Montford serving as the producers. Joining Kitsch, Dafoe and Collins in the cast ensemble are Samantha Morton, Dominic West, Polly Parker, James Purefoy and Mark Strong. The film is set to arrive in U.S. theaters on March 9, 2012.
