Find out whether Simon Cowell will stick to his mean character or will go soft on the U.S. version of the 'X Factor' which is premiering this fall.

AceShowbiz - Coming closer to its premiere on September 21, "The X Factor (US)" debuts a new official trailer. It opens with Simon Cowell having a nightmare. The former judge of "American Idol" and "Britain's Got Talent", who is well known for his harsh criticisms, goes soft in his nightmare.

Wearing a pink sweater, the reality show mogul is charmed by an adorable little girl with an off-key singing. "Let's face it. A year is a long time. We all change our attitudes and this is a different decade. It's not about me anymore. It's about them. I want to make people's dream come true. I even think about the environment," he said.

But then reality sets in, and it's not all about joy. A bunch of mean comments are thrown to aspiring artists by Simon. "You are talented, but you are deluded," he told one of the hopefuls before breaking another down with "shut it and stop singing." He's also seen having a fight with another judge Paula Abdul.

Joining Simon and Paula on the U.S. version of "The X Factor" will be label boss L.A. Reid and former The Pussycat Dolls frontwoman Nicole Scherzinger. The latter was supposed to host the show with Steve Jones, but she got promoted to be the judge after Cheryl Cole was kicked out.
