It has been confirmed that the member of Bruce Springsteen's band did suffer a stroke after it was reported earlier that he is 'seriously ill at his home in Florida.'

AceShowbiz - Clarence Clemons, a member of Bruce Springsteen's E Street Band, has suffered a stroke on Sunday night, June 12. Rolling Stone came out with a confirmation just hours after Showbiz 411 reported that the 69-year-old saxophonist is "seriously ill after a stroke at his home in Florida". It is still unclear the severity of the stroke.

The musician, who is known among fans as The Big Man, had a string of medical ailments over the past decade. In the past year, he has had both of his knees replaced and undergone spinal fusion surgery. While his medical conditions put him in a lot of pain and discomfort, he has not missed any concerts.

In February, he told Rolling Stone, "As long as my mouth, hands and brain still work I'll be out there doing it. I'm going to keep going 'til I'm not there anymore. This is what's keeping me alive and feeling young and inspired. My spiritual teacher Sri Chinmoy told me that my purpose in life is to bring joy and light to the world, and I don't know any better way to do then what I'm doing now."

Clarence last performed on-stage with Bruce in December at Asbury Park's Carousel House. Most recently, he took the stage to accompany Lady GaGa on the season finale of "American Idol". He is featured on "The Edge of Glory" and "Hair" from the eccentric singer's new album, "Born This Way".

Last week, the saxophonist was actually scheduled to perform the National Anthem at the NBA Finals Game Two. He, however, had to cancel the performance at the last minute because of a hand injury.
