Splitting From Fiancee, Jason Mraz Blames His Art
Celebrity

When confirming his break-up from Tristan Prettyman, the 'I'm Yours' singer explains that his focus on his work got in the way of his relationship before adding, 'I became less of a man.'

AceShowbiz - Jason Mraz apparently won't make it down the aisle. Six months after getting engaged to singer-songwriter Tristan Prettyman, the singer who made his international breakthrough with his single "I'm Yours" revealed that he and his 29-year-old fiancee have recently called it quits.

On the reason why, the "Lucky" singer told The Daily Beast, "My greatest mistake right now is, I've been clinging to my art." He went on to say, "In that, I have victory for my art and a great loss for my heart. At the moment, my beautiful fiancee is no longer my beautiful fiancee."

Speaking like a true poet, the 33-year-old continued to explain further, "Two halves don't make a whole. Two wholes make a whole. In my relationship, I was giving myself away to make the relationship better, but in actuality, wasn't doing better by doing that." He added, "I became less of a man."

Despite the split, Jason insisted that he and Tristan "are still super friends". He claimed, "We go to yoga together, we surf together. We acknowledge the journey that each of us is on. We certainly want each of us to feel whole and complete. And it's when you're whole and complete that that attraction exists and it really thrives."

Jason proposed to Tristan last December. After asking her hand in marriage, he announced their engagement news on Twitter by writing simply, "She said yes." Tristan herself shared with her followers, "For Once. I Am Speechless.....i did good! holy crap! man of my dreams!!! for the rest of my life!!!"
