Coming from the same author who wrote 'Vampire Diaries', 'Secret Circle' tells the story of a girl who moves into her late mother's town only to discover that she's a witch.

AceShowbiz - The CW has just announced the 2011-2012 programming schedule and put "Secret Circle" upfront in its campaign. "Secret Circle" is an adaptation of LJ Smith's other popular novel beside "The Vampire Diaries" which is run by "TVD" exec producer Kevin Williamson.

Drama centers on a California teen who moves to her mom's hometown of New Salem, Maine and discovers that she comes from a family of witches. She also happens to be the key to unlocking a centuries-old battle of good versus evil. "There's an epic love story that we hint at in the pilot that is going to blow up about two soulmates," Williamson said previously.

Brittany Robertson who starred in CW's "Life Unexpected" plays the central character named Cassie Blake, accompanied by "Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles" alum Thomas Dekker as Adam Conant and "Queer as Folk" star Gale Harold as Charles Meade.

CW has paired "Secret Circle" and "TVD" on Thursday with the latter leading at 8 P.M. When asked the correlation between these two, Williamson revealed, "We're not connecting them; there are no crossovers. It's not as violent as 'The Vampire Diaries,' or as scary."
