The studio has tapped Ed Whitworth to pen the big screen version of the first book of T.A. Barons' fantasy series, which revolves around a boy who learns to use his powers.

Warner Bros. Pictures is allegedly developing a new spell-binding film entitled "The Lost Years of Merlin". The upcoming movie will serve as a big screen adaptation of the first book of fantasy series written by T.A. Barons.
Heat Vision reports that the film will be produced by Donald De Line, who also serves as a producer for "Green Lantern". Providing the script is Ed Whitworth, who has been working as the script reader for Oprah Winfrey's Harpo Productions.
The project was previously set up at Paramount Pictures, with "Mr and Mrs Smith" director Simon Kinberg attached to it. However, the option on the property ran out, and now Warner Bros. Pictures picks it up from Paramount.
"The Lost Years of Merlin" tells a tale of Merlin's journey from being a boy washed on the shores of Wales with no memory and no home. Later on, he grows into a young man learning to use his powers. The young wizard will finally become the defender of the natural world and mentor to King Arthur.
Warner Bros. Pictures is currently prepping to release "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part II" on July 15. It is the last installment of "Harry Potter" film series which, similar to "The Lost Years of Merlin", revolves around a young wizard.
