Mia's cousin Dr. Mignon R. Moore reveals that the coroner has let the husband of the late plus-sized model/'Road Trip' actress know about the preliminary finding.

AceShowbiz - Mia Amber Davis' family was left stunned by her death last Tuesday, May 10, but has recently got a clue on what may have caused her sudden and mysterious passing following a knee surgery. Dr. Mignon R. Moore, a cousin to the late plus-sized model, has told E! News that the 36-year-old died from a blood clot.

Mignon claimed that the coroner has informed Mia's husband Michael Yard about the preliminary finding on Wednesday night. "Nothing has been confirmed but the coroner did tell us that he thinks Mia died from a blood clot related to the knee surgery," she said. "We are just now finding this out that this is all too common and people don't know the risks of arthroscopic surgery. They need to be made aware of the risks."

The "Road Trip" actress' cause of death won't be official for several weeks, pending the toxicology tests results. On how the family dealt with her passing, Mignon shared with E!, "The family is devastated." She added, "This was such an unexpected loss, and she went to a very reputable physician. I took her myself on the day of her surgery and within 24 hours she was dead."

Speaking of the knee surgery, Mignon spilled that Mia was looking forward to resolving an old sports injury. "She had long-term problems with her knee. It was always swollen, she couldn't' walk on it," the cousin explained. She added, "She had big plans and was so excited about life. She was producing 'Divorce Court' here in L.A."

Mia's funeral will take place in New York, and the family is preparing to transport her body to the Big Apple. No date has been set yet for the funeral, but her family has created the Mia Amber Memorial Fund, to which fans can make donations to honor her memory in lieu of flowers.

Mia's family isn't the only one mourning the late model's death. Janice Dickinson, the host of Oxygen's "The Janice Dickinson Modeling Agency: Size Does Matter", told E! News, "I am proud to say she was my friend and she had a heart of gold and I loved her dearly." As for her treatment of Mia when she appeared on the fourth season of the show, she said, "She knew I was kidding."

Gail Steinberg, an executive producer of "Divorce Court" also issued a statement to E! News. "Mia was not only a talented producer, editor and model, but also a truly beautiful woman in every way. She was kind, clever, and original, with a wry sense of humor and a fierce devotion to those she loved, especially her beloved husband Mike and her mother Ida," she said.

The executive producer added in the statement, "We are deeply saddened by Mia's untimely passing and the hole it has left in the universe, and speaking for all of us on the Divorce Court team, I can say that her kind spirit and positive attitude will be greatly missed. Our thoughts and prayers go out to her family during this difficult time."
