Chairman Adam Fogelson reportedly wants screenwriter Chris Morgan to pen a heist-themed script for the sixth 'Fast and Furious' movie.

AceShowbiz - Universal Pictures may be planning a big change for "Fast Five" sequel. While "Fast Five" is yet to be debuted until April 29, chairman Adam Fogelson and co-chairman Donna Langley are allegedly plotting to develop a new genre for the sixth "Fast and Furious" film which will be full of heist.
Previously, Fogelson and the executives agreed to reduce the amount of racing in the next installments. Thus, it is possible that "Fast Five", which contains robbery in its story, gives a proper start for its follow-up. Fogelson himself has called "Fast Five" "the transitional movie" as it does not focus solely on a race like the predecessors did.
"We've heard so many people say, 'I've never seen one, and I've never wanted to see one...' about the Fast franchise," Fogelson stated to Deadline. "So if these movies were still about street racing, there was probably a ceiling on how many people would buy tickets. We wanted to see if we could raise it out of about racing and make car driving ability just a part of the movie, like those great chases in 'The French Connection', 'The Bourne Identity', 'The Italian Job'."
On the same occasion, Fogelson also opened up about their new strategy for "Fast Five". He said, "Our strategy behind one of the biggest bets we've ever made is that the business has gone so far towards CG action every weekend, that we really believe creating a movie with real action and real cars will be amazing stuff to people excited by seeing something real."
Speaking about the expectations for "Fast Five", Fogelson admitted the studio hopes the movie will open with a minimum gross of $50M to $60M. Nevertheless, he noted, "But we've absolutely left perfect room for where we want to go with this franchise. I don't want to give away too much, but there are a lot of surprises at the end of Fast Five involving one of the biggest characters of the previous movies which will set up the franchise now as a series of heist action films."
Directed by Justin Lin, "Fast Five" centers its story on Toretto and his team who are trapped in another situation where they are on the opposite side of the law. As they assemble their elite team of top racers, the unlikely allies know their only shot of getting out for good means confronting the corrupt businessman who wants them dead.
Vin Diesel returns to the film to star as Dominic Toretto, with Paul Walker, Jordana Brewster, Tyrese Gibson, Ludacris, and Sung Kang reprising their roles as Toretto's team mates. Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, in the meantime, is added to the cast ensemble to play Luke Hobbs, a hard-nose agent who chases Toretto and his team.
