The animated film beats 'Scream 4' with $90 million, scoring number one at this weekend's chart.

AceShowbiz - Newly-released "Rio" is soaring high at North American box office. Produced with about $90 million, the 20th Century Fox movie hits the chart's peak with $39.2 million in its ticket sales from 3,826 theaters.
On the runner up position is "Scream 4". The latest installment of "Scream" film franchise opens with $18.7 million. The horror film did not start well when it is compared to "Scream 2" which debuted with $32.9 million, and "Scream 3" which started with $34.7 million at the domestic box office.
Former box-office champ "Hop" falls down to the third rank. The Universal Pictures movie, which has Russell Brand providing the voice for the main character, grosses $10.7 million, or drops 49.7|percent| from last week's revenue.
"Soul Surfer" holds on tight in its fourth place. The biopic obtains $7.2 million, bringing it total gross to around $19.9 million so far. At the same time, Saoirse Ronan's "Hanna" slides to number five with an $7.3 million after it land on number two last week.

**UPDATE (Apr. 18, 2011): On the same day, it was revealed that "The Conspirator" only reached $3.5 million, which made it land on the eleventh. As a result, "Your Highness" and "Limitless" jumped up to the ninth and tenth positions respectively on the chart.
